City of Hominy:
Originally started as a trading post in 1886, the area was named after an Osage Indian chief of the 1870s, ‘HO MO I’ and was later called ‘Hominy’ by white settlers. The town flourished through out the early 1900s thanks to the oil and cattle industries.
The City of Hominy has become an area steeped history and culture.
